Thursday's 'Lost' debate: Who's the 'he' waiting for Kate?

Last week we discussed a major mystery launched in last May’s flash-forward finale, and this week’s debate topic is another issue brought up in the same episode. (What can I tell you? That finale was chock-full of crazy questions!)
So let’s talk about this: Who is the unnamed “he” Kate refers to when she tells Jack she needs to get home?
One reason I’m bringing this up now is that I suspect we may get our answer TONIGHT! (Or at least a few more hints.)
Tonight’s episode, “Eggtown,” is definitely Kate-centric—and I’ve got a tiny bit of scoopage from ABC that drops a clue about Kate’s post-island life.
I don’t want to ruin it for you, so I’ll keep the details to myself for now. (And if you really want to know, there’s plenty of spoiler sites out there with the same info.)
Instead, what I’ll offer is a few theories I’ve heard floating around—including in my very own office!—about Kate’s mystery man. Basically they boil down to two possibilities: A lover or a child.
And mind you, these are only theories. Debate their merits—or lack thereof—in the comments section!
So here are four potential candidates for Kate’s affection:
SAWYER? The mysterious no-name drop was obviously intended for viewers to think that Kate and Sawyer end up together K-I-S-S-I-N-G, don’t cha think? But I wonder…would “Lost” make it that easy? I’m guessing not, although it could partially explain why Jack and Kate don’t talk much anymore off the island. A jealous Sawyer may have put his foot down.
A NEW MAN? An unexpected hook-up with another member of the Oceanic 6? Kate’s police officer ex-hubby? Possible, but I think very unlikely.
KATE and SAWYER’S BABY? Still unknown is whether Kate’s pregnant after all that hot cage lovin’ with Sawyer. Is her pregnancy the reason she’s allowed to leave the island, since all the pregnant women there die? A kid could also explain why Kate isn’t in jail in last season’s flash-forward. Even if she’s one of the “famous” Oceanic 6, wouldn’t she still be a fugitive? (Looks like Kate’s off-island criminal status will be explained tonight…)
AARON? Yup, Aaron. Some folks think “he” could be Claire’s baby, which—if true—may make Claire one of the Oceanic 6. One reason I like this theory is because it goes back to another question that’s been around since Season 1: Why is Claire’s baby so special? Remember that psychic Claire visited while she was pregnant? He insisted that she not give the baby up for adoption, and then convinced her to board Flight 815 (to meet a supposed adoptive family in LA). This idea also supports Desmond’s vision of Claire and Aaron getting on the rescue helicopter. But there’s the rub: If Claire got off the island, why would Kate have Aaron? Unless something happened to Claire post-rescue?
Chatter away about this below, and check back here tomorrow for a recap of tonight’s episode. Hopefully then we’ll have some more answers to this question!

I vote Kate and Sawyer's baby-
I think it makes the most sense, and dovetails in with why Kate would even want to leave the island in the first place. She knows that her legal troubles are all that's waiting for her once she goes off-island, just like Sawyer pointed out to her. Why would she want to leave? The only thing that makes sense to me is that she thinks she may be pregnant and she doesn't want her or the baby to die during childbirth. It may also explain why she's the only one of the O6 so far who doesn't seem to think that leaving the island was a huge mistake-she's got a little SKate baby to take care of.Let me just say though that although I think it makes the most sense, I'm not a fan of this theory—it feels like the writers took the easy way out. For such a cleverly written show, they are really obvious with the clues sometimes. (I saw the Christian Shepherd/Claire's dad thing coming a MILE away. Likewise with the Cooper/Mr. Sawyer reveal.)
Uh, that whole section wasn't supposed to be stricken out, I must have made an inadvertant typing mistake, lol.
I have a completely different theory. I think "he" is Ben. Obviously Ben did something to Kate when he had breakfast with her back when he caught Kate, Jack, and Sawyer. And we know from the last episode that in the future, Ben is controlling Sayid. It's logical to think he's controlling Kate also.
I agree with you, Beth, that a Skate baby would be the easy answer—and there's no easy road on Lost!
And Steph, I like the way your evil mind works! Ben, after all, has been quite the puppet-master on the island, why wouldn't that transfer to post-island life?
I won't say what I think, because my opinion has been corrupted by a few spoiler-ific clues. But we're going to learn a lot more tonight—stay tuned!
I'm quite sure it's Aaron.
And, I think the remaining Oceanic Six are Sun and Jin. I used to think that the remaining two would be Claire and Sun (Claire because of Desmond's vision and Sun because she needs to have her baby off the island).
But, something must happen that alters events. Maybe we'll get an explanation as to why Kate has Aaron, but I'm sure she does.
Looks like you were right, Jalex.
Yep you are right Jalex..Great episode. Wow.
