ABC disrupts Men in Trees for the zillionth time

Once upon a time, there was a really cute show called Men in Trees that fans of shoot-em-up sci fi and action shows, such as myself, had no business loving, but did.
Then ABC inexplicably interrupted its run, midseason, with no word as to when it would be back. Then it was back! Huzzah!
Then it was off again. Hiss, boo! Then it was announced that all the extra episodes in the can from the first season would be held over and added to the second season. Huzzah!
Then, then, to be honest, I can’t really remember what happened next. I think it didn’t end up on the fall schedule, but I wouldn’t swear to it. Whatever the case, it was one of the few shows with lots of episodes in the can, so I figured that once the strike hit, it would be in like Flynn.
Ha. ABC waited until the strike was over, basically, to put the episodes on the air, but it still was given a nice 10 p.m. Wednesday timeslot.
And so it has been the last few weeks. Then (cue Wicked Witch of the West music) ABC yesterday announced that Women’s Murder Club was coming back April 29, bumping Boston Legal from its 10 p.m. Tuesday timeslot to 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Yeah, you read that right.
Men in Trees, once again, is bumped out of the lineup.
This was really a fun show, total mind candy, with a pretty attractive cast (have you seen Cash?), charming characters (it’s the characters who inhabit Elmo, Alaska, who really make the show worth watching — I mean, can I tell you how much I love Mai?) and good writing.
The remaining episodes will begin airing again Wednesdays starting May 28. Once those run out, I’m guessing it’s over.
Thanks for letting me visit, Elmo.

I never watched “Men In Trees,” but I don’t mind rooting for any series that features the guy who played Kubiac (a.k.a. “The Koob”) on “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.”
ARRGGGH! You know, I’m just about OVER network television, period. They do everything they possibly can to screw over the few decent shows on tv…
Thanks for the update on the scheduling Amy. I’d never be able to keep up with when my favorite shows are or aren’t going to be on if it wasn’t for you!
Seriously, Yvonne. I know. It’s absolutely astounding that the networks keep playing hide and seek with shows and then wonder why the “ratings” aren’t so good. Just proves, though, that no one network has a lock on bad show decision-making…
And, Chris, yes, I do remember Parker Lewis and Abraham Benrubi looks almost exactly the same! Kinda weird. But he’s a really really nice guy in MIT.
Amy, are you living inside my head?!! Scary, but i too am a MiT fan. I have no idea what ABC has been doing with this show, and if it wasn’t for my DVR, I would have missed all of this season’s episodes. It’s like some crazy person got their hands on this show and just started twirling it over their head and letting go randomly.
BTW, I continue to watch for PastorKrycek, being the X-Phile that I am.
LOL, erika. And PastorKrycek also is the fab Tom Foss on Kyle XY, let us not forget. I like your analogy as to how this show’s been scheduled. It makes about as much sense as any explanation the network could come up with. I find myself totally baffled on how ABC has fouled up this show’s scheduling, not just switching nights and airtimes, but also stopping and starting every five seconds. It’s a miracle anyone can still find it to watch it!
