Saving Moonlight

I’ve gotta admit, this is one of the most creative “save our show” campaign I’ve seen. Since peanuts, anyhow…
Seriously, though, Moonlight fans are organizing a nationwide blood drive to help raise support for a second season. CBS hasn’t made its decision yet.
The news was published this week in The Hollywood Reporter; supposedly 3,000 fans so far have pledged to donate a pint apiece. They’re teaming with the American Red Cross and YouChoose.net.
Alex O’Loughlin, who stars on the show, “has been so moved by fans’ efforts that sources close to the series said he is becoming a spokesman for the Red Cross.”
That’s devotion to your fans.
The good news for Moonlight fans is that it’s considered likely to get a fall pickup. And it still has four new episodes left to air, and those won’t start running until April 25.
Fan and organizer Barbara Arnold explained the blood drive thusly:
We wanted to celebrate the return of episodes and really focus attention on the show. They say one pint of blood saves three lives. So if we can collect 3,000, wouldn’t that be nice?
Good luck, Moonlight fans.
