The beginning of Battlestar’s end

April
4

OK, I was in on that conference call with Katee Sackhoff last week and had hoped to bring you a podcast with choice quotes from her, plus my observations.

starbuckadama.jpgAlas and alack, that was not to be, as my computer completely refused to cooperate with me and the process of editing the audio from the call nearly gave me an aneurysm. Multiple times.

So you’re just going to have to deal with a regular ol’ old-fashioned (so to speak) blog post.

I already told you how Sackhoff believes that Leoben would be the best eventual life partner for Starbuck. (Still blowing my mind. But she’s right, which blows my mind even more.)

Here’s some other thoughts Sackhoff shared with us:

• On Starbuck’s state of mind as we enter Season 4:

Very fragile. She’s extremely lost. We’ve never seen Starbuck so alone and so lost. And she’s a little distraught. Not only because of the way people are treating her, but because of the questions her coming back has raised in her own mind.

• On how she thinks things should end for Starbuck — death:
I don’t think there’s any way to end it with her being happy. What I do wish for her is peace in whatever form that comes in … I want her to finally have a sense of calm in her life. That would be very interesting. Whether that comes with death or some sort of transcendance of some sort…

• On how Admiral Adama’s doubts upon her return affect Starbuck’s mindset (my question):
I think that’s the worst thing that could ever happen. Here’s a person that she depended on …. She gets her validation and she gets everything from him. … He kind of sets the mood and the tone for how she feels about herself, and to have that person doubt you is, I think, the worst thing that could happen to her.

• The Bionic Woman failed because there were “too many cooks in the kitchen.” But she’ll take a part in anything David Eick does if he asks. His next project is Children of Men, and Sackhoff is up for it. (And Ronald Moore, she says, is the most polite director she’s ever worked with in her life.)

Come back to Remote Access tonight for my insta-recap. Helps that I had a screener copy so could write it all up ahead of time. Don’t get used to it. And on Tuesday, we have “So Say We All: The Battlestar Galactica Blog Carnival.” Submit articles here.

I’m looking forward to the final season (though I’m still not caught up on 3 yet! Doing a marathon this weekend and will watch the Season 4 Premier sometime next week via DVR). I’ll have to wait to read your instant recap then (LOL)! Should be a great final season, no matter what though!
