J. Lo and the twins set for reality show

Unless the paparazzi are literally running Jennifer Lopez off the road, she now has absolutely no cause to complain about intrusive photographers.
That’s because J. Lo and hubby Marc Anthony are pimping out their infant twins for a reality show on The Learning Channel, to focus on how the superstar juggles her career with being a first-time mom.
This is actually the second time (that we know of) that Jenny from the Block has profited from the babies—and they’re only two months old!
The first time was right after they were born, when People magazine reportedly paid Lopez and Anthony $6 million for the first photographs of the kids.
I can semi-sympathize with celebs grappling with how to debut their newborns, since they don’t want to be virtually housebound or stalked by photogs hoping to make mega-bucks. Sometimes, showing off the wee one in a national magazine takes the pressure off.
Then again, she could have pulled a Sarah Jessica Parker, who staged her own press op with hubby Matthew Broderick when their now 5-year-old son, James Wilkie, was born.
SJP let the paps get their ya-yas out so they’d leave her alone—and she did it for free.
But J. Lo’s latest venture is coming from a woman who refused to confirm her marriage to Anthony or that she was pregnant for ages, claiming that she wanted to keep some things private.
Please.
More like she knew that she’d get more publicity mileage out of those milestones if she played the “is she, or isn’t she?” game.
Anyway, that’s not even what irks me most about all this. It’s this quote from TLC President Angela Shapiro-Mathes:
Jennifer is unbelievably passionate about life and will be an incredible role model for our audience.
I’m sorry, how exactly is she a role model for the average woman?
She’s a multi-millionaire with a nanny (actually, she’s probably got more than one), housekeeper, cook, personal assistant, personal trainer and what I’m sure is a small army of staffers with the single mission of caring for her and her family.
So I’m quite sure that the only thing I’d get out of watching J.Lo navigate the “difficulties” of working motherhood is a belly laugh out of how carefully edited the reality show is sure to be.
And what does Lopez herself get out of this? Money, of course.
But more importantly, she gets more publicity and the chance to craft yet another persona: Supermom.
Get real, indeed.
