This is practically old news, but in the rush of 30 Rock and Office chatter I nearly forgot to share the best news to hit the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles set since the season wrapped early last month.
Derek Reese is going to stick around in the past for a while.

Brian Austin Green, who plays John Connor’s uncle and renegade resistance fighter, has signed on as a regular cast member for the fledgling action hit.
When he joined the cast as a special guest mid-season, he injected the series with a gravity and tension that shouldn’t have been lacking in the first place and most certainly wasn’t expected from the actor who played David Silver for so many years on Beverly Hills 90210.
Meanwhile, Fox has announced that TSCC has been given a 13-episode pickup for the 2008-09 season. That’s hardly a resounding vote of confidence. But in the wake of its choppy but mostly satisfying and strike-shortened inaugural season, that’s probably the best that could be expected.
According to the network, the show was the top new scripted series in the coveted 18-49 demo.
But in my opinion, series leads Lena Heady and Thomas Dekker were often uneven in their characterizations of mankind’s robot-slaying saviors while producers seemed to flip-flop in their positioning of Cameron, the “good” terminator played ably by the mesmerizing Summer Glau.
That said, I have enormous confidence, particularly based on the finale and the overall performances by supporting stars Dean Winters and Richard T. Jones, that any kinks in the armor will be hammered out nicely by fall.
Commenting on the latest news, TVGuide.com’s Matt Roush said Green’s “arrival gave the show a powerful new character as well as an important link to the future and insights into the future John Connor, and I love the tension between him and Cameron. So while its good news that Terminator is officially back, its even better news that Derek comes with the package.”
I couldn’t agree more.
