Mea culpa, J. Lo.
Last week I blasted Jennifer Lopez for agreeing to produce and star in what was THOUGHT to be a reality show for TLC, since it sounded like her new babies were going to be part of the program.
I think I used the phrase “pimping out her infant twins.”
Oopsies!
It seems that Jenny from the Block’s manager now tells People magazine that the series is “not a reality show.” Nor will it feature little Max and Emme—or any part of Lopez’s “family life.”
(I’m guessing that means hubby Marc Anthony won’t appear, either? But how about mom Guadalupe? News anchor sis, Lynda? Her gardener?)
Anyway, what the show does plan to follow is the production of a new Lopez perfume—ZZZZZ—what?
Sorry, that was me nodding off. And I guess that snorefest of a premise explains why TLC is airing the show, instead of, say, MTV.
But just one more thing: I’d like to share part of the original TLCÂ announcement that caused all the commotion.
It uses phrases like “unscripted series” and “docu-series.” How exactly is that NOT a reality show?
Plus, check out the part where TLC’s president talks about how Jennifer will be juggling her fragrance launch with being a first-time mom.
TLC President, Angela Shapiro-Mathes, announced that the network will partner with Jennifer Lopez who will co-create, co-executive produce, and star in a new docu-series. Jennifer Lopez is an international star who has conquered the worlds of music, fashion, and film. Now TLC will deliver a slice of her life that audiences have never seen before, as she takes on her career and launches a new fragrance while trying to juggle her new responsibilities as a first time mom.
Soooo, if her family isn’t shown on camera, how exactly will they portray J. Lo’s struggles as a working mother?
Maybe she’ll be on her cell to Marc, telling him not to expect her home for dinner. Shoot. And I bet Marc makes a mean pork chop.
