Jericho, Jericho and, well, more Jericho

I’ve been SO far behind in my blogging on Jericho that I’m dreadfully embarrassed. I don’t even have an entry in this week’s edition of the Blog Carnival, hosted wonderfully by Erika/kricka over at Short Story Life.
I’d been saving up so many links that I’ll give you a carnival-day bonus, a quick linkapalooza.
• Join in the Second Annual DVDs For The Troops Campaign. What’s that? Simple: help purchase Jericho Season 2 DVDs to send to the troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Last year’s campaign was such a success that Amazon.com is helping out with pooled donations. Click on the above link for all the details. In addition, Jericho4Kids is doing a raffle of cast autographs for those who donate.
• The efforts to find a new home for Jericho continue to get press. Besides the SciFi Channel and Comcast, which previously had been cited, the afore-linked-to article mentions the Hallmark Channel.
• OK, we knew this already, but Jericho was one of the top time-shifted programs on broadcast television in January, February, March and April. Not that that mattered to CBS.
• Nice post about the keep Jericho alive movements.
• Great video on YouTube.
• About the Nuts to Nielsen movement.
• The Jericho page on a South African network’s website.
• Where you can see Sprague, April and other Jericho actresses elsewhere on the dial.
• Students in Boca Raton learned about civics and economics using Jericho as a real-life case study.
• Variety gets shelled. The nuts are yummy, they say!
• CBS may have canceled Jericho, but the net couldn’t cancel Jerichon! (May 23, 24, 25, & 26 in Oakley, Kansas.)
• Another Nuts To Nielsen! article, from The Tampa Tribune. NorsU is interviewed.
• And another, Nielsen is based near Tampa. This one’s from the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
• Jericho4Kids interviews J.D. Streett from the Jericho special effects team.
• Dan Shotz and Jon Steinberg talk to IFMagazine.
• More on Nuts to Nielsen, from BuddyTV.
• And here’s one more.
• And a last one, from Forbes.com, not about nuts or Nielsens, but about News Corp.’s president, Peter Chernin, who wants to bring Hollywoood kicking and screaming into the Internet age.

I think it is just wrong to even compare the two shows together. Seeing “Jericho” and “Moonlight” in the same sentence is like seeing the word “professional” and “rookie” in the same sentence. I also saw a poll “Jericho vs Ugly Betty”. That’s like comparing inspiration to an x-rated porn movie. The person that made that poll should go take a long walk off a short pier. Jericho is by far the most intellectual show that I have seen on television…. probably in my entire life. I’m shocked by the way the finale ended with the fighter jet scene. What other tv show even has even 10% of that awesome action and excitement. Fifteen years ago, that would have been the talk all over entertainment news from the outstanding action and performance. In todays world, you didn’t hear a dam thing about JERICHO in the news the very next day after the finale aired, but you sure heard about those losers on American idol. I remember when 24 had a finale, and on the day of the finale early in the afternoon, AOL would have a picture of Jack Bauer on the AOL welcome screen that would let you click to pull up a poll that asks you which finale you will watch tonight. They never did that with JERICHO and I was pissed because I thought that would have been another good way of advertising it, but I guess the reason behind all the weak advertising is somehow connected with that too. It’s like there are people out there trying to blind others from the true definition of inspiration and creativity and what good people Americans really are. ((((Some say the characters in JERICHO are not real, well I can tell you I grew up in a small town area where people where very similar to the people in JERICHO, which is another reason I love it….just because I never been to Italy or Greece doesn’t make it right if I say it doesn’t exist just because I never saw it for myself does it?)))) People who cannot appreciate JERICHO must not appreciate our country either, and they lack understanding the true concept of loyalty to the good people that still exist in the USA believe it or not. I’ve noticed just about everything on tv nowadays starts with a CSI, I can’t go one time searching through my cable menu without seeing a CSI on. If they aired JERICHO as much as they did with the CSI’s, Jericho would be heard by everybody in a very short period of time. I believe they clearly are making an effort to keep the existence of JERICHO from even being heard judging by the worst advertising I have seen for any tv show in my life. I watch tv all the time at night, and I never once heard about JERICHO until the entire first season was already done airing due to the very poor advertisements. If a guy like me who watches tv a lot in my spare time can’t even come across a single “JERICHO” advertisement how the heck is anybody else going to? Then when it came time for JERICHO’s outstanding finale, they didn’t even advertise it or give it any credit at all the way they do for all those mind poisoning shows, like all the CSI’s, Moonlight(gimmie a break this show sucked I couldn’t watch it), Without a trace, Shark, New Amsterdam, Ugly Betty and even 24 because of the message it sends to people about torturing. Jericho on the other hand corrected 24’s ignorant advice about torturing and taught us all that it is THE FEAR OF TORTURE that gets truthful results, torturing only works in the movies and that is very true. Another thing, how the hell did a show like Ugly Betty ever get to surface on the tv anyways? More importantly how is it that Ugly Betty is still on tv, but a great inspiring show like “JERICHO” isn’t? C’mon! people that alone should tell us all there is something definitely wrong with our country. We can’t even express inspiration and creativity anymore on our tv sets and that is what made tv great in the past and now the present ONLY because of JERICHO. It seems like they got people keeping an eye out for inspiration, hard work and creativity and then they stop it from getting on our tv’s just so they can add shows like Ugly Betty to help destroy are minds by making us see how annoying that attractive Ugly Betty is but definitely not the kind of person I’d want to find myself living in a community full of those annoying Betty’s. I’ll hang myself if that ever happened. Jericho is the only tv show where the producers actually did their home work, and it’s the only well thought out script executed by real people with very strong character out of every tv show out today by a very far margin and maybe even the best script ever made in my tv history. We should all be welcoming in that heart-filled creativity and inspiration and saying thanks, not cancel it. . To cancel JERICHO but not CSI Miami or Without a trace, or AMERICAN IDOL, or Lost, or Big Brother 9(people act like their on drugs in that show but BB9 gets to stay on???) is a real big insult to intelligent people. God help us all! we need are quality tv back and JERICHO and Two and a Half Men are the only true quality tv shows left at this moment. I never ran a tv network before but I can tell you people already that I could run CBS better blindfolded with one hand tied behind my back. The real people in charge of who gets to say what goes on CBS and what doesn’t need to be replaced immediately. Canceling JERICHO is like canceling inspiration and creativity, and if that isn’t what it’s all about anymore what is? hookers with big boobs?
