"Grey's" Fade to Black

…for this season only, of course.
Last week, Cristina has shed her previous mopey self, thank goodness, and was back in her crabby action, especially when she told Lexie flat-out that she didn’t like her. See, I’m all for that upfront truthfulness, rather than faking it and pussyfooting around the other person. But keep in mind that this is a good idea only if you have nothing to lose with the other person, such as Lexie being Cristina’s underling at the hospital.
The hospital shrink had her hands full with Meredith’s hystrionics, Rebecca wanted plastic surgeon Sloan to give her a boob job, and Callie hankered for a quickie with Sloan in a supply closet (SO classy). But he shockingly declined, due to his vow to end his man-whoring ways (how long will THAT last?).
The truth finally came out about Rebecca’s not having a bun in the oven. This proves that the woman is a bit off her rocker and that Alex should stay away from her, as he has his OWN emotional problems in the romance arena.
Then there was the kiss between Hahn and Callie in the elevator. I’m not crazy about that storyline, which, I recently read, will probably continue into next season. It seems to be just an attempt to grab ratings, and, though I’m no sexpert, it’s not the kind of relationship Callie would be interested in.
Tonight, in the two-hour (8 to 10 p.m.) season finale, titled “Gone Baby Gone,” Meredith and Derek finally commit to being a couple, which will leave poor Nurse Rose out in the cold after having done nothing wrong. On the medical side of the show, Mer and Der have one last shot at a successful outcome in their clinical trial, and the other surgeons work together to free a boy from a hardening block of cement. Meanwhile, Izzie helps Alex care for an ailing Rebecca, and Lexie discovers crucial info about George’s intern status.
The episode was written by show creator Shonda Rhimes, so it should be a “Grey’s” at its best. It will air also on Friday (8 to 10 p.m.), and you can catch it on-line at ABC.com.
Savor these last days of the 2007-08 TV season. The ‘08-’09 season has already been majorly screwed up by the writers’ strike, and if the actors go out in a few weeks, it will cripple the TV industry for years to come.
