Burn Notice premieres commercial-free

I’ve opined often in the past that I don’t mind product placement in my TV, so long as it’s done smoothly. I’d rather have a character mention a brandname in passing than have to sit through a commercial. I watch precious few commercials these days, mostly only those for movies.
I watch everything time-shifted; even appointment television is on a 15-minute delay for hourlong shows so I finish watching the show at the same time, yet don’t have to bother with all the annoying ads.
That’ll be put to the test during the premiere of one of my favorite guilty pleasures: Burn Notice.
It will premiere commercial-free (and therefore pretty much a full hour long) at 10 p.m. June 28, presented by DirecTV.
The satellite television provider will get promo spots at the start and the end of the show and “will be integrated verbally and visually into two episodes during the summer season.”
So long as it makes sense and isn’t forced, I’ve got no problem with it. And if it means I can watch more Michael Westen and fewer drug, soda, toilet paper and other advertisements, I’m all for it.
Come back June 29 and see if I’m as good as my word.
