Summer series, week 4

And here we are, the first official week of Summer, but the fourth week of the so-called Summer Season. Here’s the lowdown on the first, second and third weeks of the summer season.
New shows continue rolling out this week, starting tomorrow, and we bring you a look at what’s new and when it’s on, for the week of June 22, again, thanks to USAToday.com, though any comments not in quotes are mine:
Sunday
The Two Coreys, 10 p.m., A&E. Because their careers have been in the toilet for years, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, the child stars of my youth (a friend played Thug #2 in their crap-fest Dream a Little Dream, believe it or not) apparently have drifted apart. This is Season 2. In Season 1, they apparently got along so poorly that the only way they could think of to salvage their friendship was to be in another season of a reality show. That’s what I’d do.
Tuesday
Wipeout, 8 p.m., ABC. “24 accident-prone competitors take on an obstacle course – often face-first – right out of a Japanese extreme challenge. The hosts are John Anderson (ESPN SportsCenter) and Jill Wagner (best known for standing beside Mercury autos).” Really? No, really?
I Survived a Japanese Game Show, 9 p.m., ABC. “The second part of a themed Tuesday evening, this reality/game show goes behind the scenes with 10 Americans in, of course, a Japanese game show.” OK, I was being too harsh on Wipeout.
Wednesday
The Baby Borrowers, 8 p.m. NBC. Teen couples, over the course of three weeks, pretend to be adults, including being “parents.” OK, so this is what I want to know: Exactly who allowed their infants to be used for this show? Does anyone have a phone number for CPS?
Thursday
Hopkins, 10 p.m., ABC. “ABC News returns to Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins hospital eight years after the network’s original documentary, Hopkins 24/7, for more life-and-death medical stories.” OK, this might be decent, but I probably won’t watch it anyhow.
Friday
Dance Machine, 8 p.m., ABC. “Six real people face off in a series of dance-offs, and are eliminated one-by-one by the studio audience. Jason Kennedy hosts.” So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars and America’s Best Dance Crew weren’t enough? C’mon.

So many fans trying for so long to keep good quality programming on television and this is what the networks choose to bank on.
Just depressing. :- (
Horrible.
Gotta agree that Baby Borrowers might not be a hit but parents aren’t handing over their babies to these teens without a lot of backup support. There will be a camera on those teens 24/7, a nanny and the parents will be watching it all via camera. Of course, is that “real parenting” experience for the teens? How many of us parented with someone watching our every move with a camera or with a nanny and backup parents ready to provide support in one instant right outside the door? Not so many, I’d guess. Love your reviews!
Also, when did teen pregnancy become popular as the focus of a show? I’m a parent and I like some escape myself from watching all those parenting shows….and now, teens being parents? Uh-oh!
Actually, the teens aren’t pregnant but the show is supposed to prevent pregnancy, sorry about that mind glitch there for a sec…
