David Arquette to join 'Pushing Daisies'

I’ve been a little lax in reporting the latest news about “Pushing Daisies,” my favorite new series of last season.
The oddball dramedy doesn’t return for its sophomore year until Oct. 1, but the show got a rousing reception from fans at its recent Comic-Con panel.
(It also got Emmy love this month, too, in the form of 12 nominations, including nods for stars Lee Pace and Kristen Chenowith.)
The Comic-Con panel revealed that we’ll be seeing some new folks popping up in upcoming episodes – most notably, David Arquette (seen below with wife Courteney Cox) as Ned’s new best friend.
Given Arquette’s kooky off-screen personality, this seems like perfect casting. Or maybe his pal, Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens - who was a big hit as olfactory expert Oscar Vibenius last season—put in a good word with the “Daisies” producers.Either way, David’s proving to be a good fit: E!’s TV diva, Kristin, says the series is already working on having him back as a recurring character.
In other casting news, Broadway’s Debra Mooney will play Emerson Cod’s mom. (For those who aren’t familiar with Debra, here’s the interesting twist with that one: Debra’s white, and as we all know, Emerson—played by the fabulously wry Chi McBride—is black.)
As for future settings in our wonderfully colorful fantasy land, look out for a nunnery, which opens its doors to Olive.
That gives the incredibly talented Chenoweth yet another musical interlude: She belts out a—you guessed it—”Sound of Music”-style number.
Oh yeah, and she gets a new friend, too: A pig named Pigby.
