Are you as excited as I am at the prospect of an Arrested Development movie?
Too bad George Michael doesn’t feel the same way. Michael Cera, who played the youngest of the Bluth men, dropped an off-hand
comment to Canadian outlet National Post that would seem to put a kibosh on rumors fed for the last year or so by Jason Bateman, Jessica Walter and Jeffrey Tambor, among others.
I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway. And I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.
He also says he hasn’t heard of any plans for a movie.
Now far be it from me to call out an actor for holding an opinion contrary to my own about a project he or she has a direct interest in. Still, I can’t argue with the passion of this post at Scandalist.
…We want more because we’re fans. Jerk.Don’t want to look back, Cera? Fine. Live it up with your 21st century John Hughes comedies and fanbase of horny women with nerd deflowering fantasies. Live it up. But Scandalist has two names for your eternally pubescent ass to remember: Anthony Michael Hall and Bud Cort. Sure aged well, didn’t they? That’s right—in twenty years you’ll be starring on a USA original series based on a Stephen King novel, if you’re lucky.
If you’ve seen the show at all you probably love it and have worn out all three DVD season sets. And you still want to see the movie.
You know, it would hardly be right to do the movie with out him, but I bet they could manage.
