Burn Notice: Double Booked

If next week were not the season finale of Burn Notice, I’d just stop blogging on it now.
Again, tonight had some laugh lines (Mama Westen saying her new counselor was pretty sure Michael was the cause of her problems; Sam, well, being Sam; Michael’s exchange with Jeannie in the bathroom when he tells her someone’s been hired to kill her … him), but at the end, I didn’t have much to say.
We learned very little about the folks Michael’s been working for.
We do know thathe’s basically been running errands for a sniper and whoever the sniper’s gonna snipe must be pretty important.
We did get flash backs of the entire season when he realizes this, neatly showing how the entire season has been leading up to this point.
Sniper Bill Johnson shreds an awful lot of stuff, but who doesn’t these days? But he does use some dry cleaners solution that REALLY hides the info you don’t want found.
The most enjoyable scene was when Michael and his mom kicked the shrink out of their house.
Tim Matheson’s gotten really old. When did that happen? Oh, that’s right. I’m getting old.
Basically, that’s all I have to say.
As it’s been, I enjoy the show while I’m watching it, but I just can’t get excited about it.
‘Tis a shame.
Just hope Tricia Helfer makes another appearance in next week’s season finale, “Good Soldier.”

Amy,
You are feeling the same thing that I’m feeling about Burn Notice—while I’m watching it, it’s an amusing waste of time but I’m not feeling a lot of excitement for it otherwise.
USA goes THREE WEEKS between episodes to deliver what looks to be a lackluster season finale to a lackluster season. I was shocked when they announced the season finale-“what already?†I thought. I’d been waiting for the season to pick up speed and now it’s almost over.
Tricia Helfer’s role as Carla was over-hyped and under-delivered. Here total screen time to date wouldn’t amount to a quarter-hour of a single episode. Which is too bad as too bad, Helfer’s role as Natalie Six on Battlestar Galactica (as opposed to Caprica Six) got me excited to see Helfer play someone NOT the overt, in-your-face sexpot.
The bottom line is that Season 2 of Burn Notice was new but not terribly different. It’s more like everything to date has been Burn Notice Season 1 split up over two summers.
This show is stagnating and hasn’t grown beyond its very clever premise and introduction. This is by no means a bad show but it seems like Team Burn Notice is doing its best to be mediocre when it could easily be SO MUCH Better.
Here’s hoping next week’s finale leaves us wanting more.
Cheers,

I agree with the commenter that Tricia Helfer’s role was really overhyped. And to be honest, after the 3 week break, I had lost track of what this season’s “mystery” was about and the steps we had taken to get there. So it wasn’t that compelling to me either.
Now, if I’m viewing this last episode as just a stand-alone episode, then it’s probably my favorite of the season. I actually really laughed at some of the scenes and overall enjoyed it.
So for a big overarching storyline, I can’t rate this season well. But for this particular episode (if it were a standalone), it would’ve been great.
I did like the scene where he was writing things he was thankful to his mom for, and #1 was “Providing me with a cover ID.” That was awesome.
