ABC announces fall premieres

OMG, didn’t we just get through season finales?
Maybe ABC has correctly realized that there’s a drought of decent shows on TV right now – and we couch potatoes are anxiously looking forward to the fall. Because the network just announced its Fall 2009 premiere dates – most of ‘em anyway – a full three months ahead of their debuts.
So what’s the dealio?
New comedies with Kelsey Grammer (“Hank”) and Patricia Heaton (“The Middle”) launch back-to-back on Sept. 30. (Despite the fact that FOX canned “Back to You,” ABC figures that the stars still make a good pair. Just on separate shows.)
Buzzed-about drama “FlashForward” kicks off Sept. 24, starring Joseph Fiennes (“Shakespeare in Love”), John Cho (“Harold & Kumar”) and Sonya Walger (Penny on “Lost”). And if you believe the blogosphere, Walger isn’t the only “Lost” cast member on the program.
Following a brouhaha surrounding Dominic “Charlie Pace” Monaghan’s cheeky appearance in a recent ABC promo, fans were wondering which show he was supposed to be representing. But according to IGN, Monaghan will be appearing on “FlashForward,” not making a return to “Lost.” (Well, he DOES have experience with flash-forward storylines…)
Anyway, still no word on the premiere date of “Brothers & Sisters,” “Private Practice” or witchy new show “Eastwick.” Hotly-anticipated newbies like “V” don’t air until midseason.
