Wow, Showtime knows a good thing when it sees it.

The cable network renewed Edie Falco’s “Nurse Jackie” for another season, less than 48 hours after the dramedy premiered.
And why not? The show made quite a ratings splash: Between Monday night’s 10:30 p.m. launch and 11:30 p.m. encore, “Jackie” scored more than 1.3 million viewers.
That’s also despite a lot of grumbling from real-life nurses, who were appalled by the portrayal of the pill-popping, ethically-compromised Jackie.
So is “Jackie” worth such a quick pickup? It might not be “The Sopranos,” but at least according to Showtime, it looks like Falco has another hit on her hands.
