If rumors are to be believed, Katie Holmes thinks she can dance.
In one of the weirder match-ups in TV Land lately, the movie actress is reportedly taping a big song-and-dance number for an upcoming episode of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Usmagazine.com says that Holmes was spotted this morning at the studio where the reality show airs live every week. The mag’s website also says that the producers are trying to save the performance for the show’s 100th episode on July 8.
“SYTYCD” head honcho Nigel Lythgoe wouldn’t confirm or deny Holmes’ appearance – and why should he? Even if it’s not true, it’s still great PR.
But why on earth would Holmes be interested in such a seemingly odd gig? Well, it’s actually not THAT odd: She showed off some decent dance chops last year in an installment of ABC’s “Eli Stone.” (Maybe she’s concerned that no one actually SAW that episode, since poor ratings subsequently led ABC to cancel “Stone.”)
Also, she might be Grade A tabloid meat – courtesy of her marriage to Tom Cruise – but her career hasn’t exactly been on fire. Since deciding to dump the blockbuster role of Rachel Dawes in the new “Batman” series, the only role that’s earned her any buzz is her upcoming one in a horror flick written by Guillermo del Toro, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.”
And even if this doesn’t result in better film parts, at least Holmes can trade style tips with the show’s reigning fashionista, Cat Deeley…
So what do you think? Would watching Katie dance on “SYTYCD” be terrific – or terrible? For a possible preview, go here to check out a clip of her on “Eli Stone.”
