Paula Abdul leaving ‘American Idol’

Yes, it’s true: We won’t have Paula Abdul to kick around anymore. Well, not on “American Idol,” anyway.
Paula announced that she’s leaving the show in a series of Twitter messages late yesterday. And don’t think this is just another ploy for more money in her contract negotiations. That trick apparently failed – she reportedly wanted $20 million a year to stay – because FOX has already confirmed her departure in an official announcement.
Here’s what Paula tweeted in her good-bye note:
With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to #IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all … being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.
Guess this explains why controversial fourth (now third) judge Kara DioGuardi was rehired for another season last week.
So will you watch “AI” without Paula’s shaky, nonsensical remarks? I have to admit I’m a little sad about it…
