24 — casting, bathroom breaks, babies and more

July
31

ComicCon has been a veritable treasure trove of information about our favorite shows, not least of all 24.

How I wish I were there….

But perhaps the most important issue that's been resolved is the fact that Jack Bauer does, indeed, go to the bathroom.

On Digital Spy, I read this article in which Kiefer Sutherland explained why [...]

Burned Notice

July
25

Just a quick note of apology.

Last night got away from me and I didn't get to watch Burn Notice. I will catch up with it sometime over the weekend, as I'm sure you are totally awaiting my scintillating review.

That is all, go about your business, thank you and have a nice day.

Once again, Jericho fans help others

July
23

Hot off the e-mail, I hear of more do-gooding (is that a word?) by Jericho fans.

This time, they're helping an Army sergeant who's trying to raise awareness of autism. Sgt. Patrick Neal's son, Brendan, was diagnosed as autistic at a young age, and now the Neal family is trying to raise awareness and help other [...]

Summer series, week 8

July
20

The eighth week of the summer season kicks off today, and it's slim pickin's.

Here's our advance looks at the first and second and third and fourth and fifth and sixth and seventh weeks.

At first, I couldn't believe I'd forgotten to post my weekly look at the new summer season shows. Then I looked at what [...]

24: Exile: The Trailer: Watch it: For realz

July
18

The voice of the trailer's narrator seems wrong, though I don't know why, but it looks pretty good. Might 24 in Africa actually be pretty damn good?

You watch. You decide. Then tell me what you think.

Check it out here. Or here. Or here. OK, that last one was a joke. But it was as exciting [...]

Burn Notice: Turn and Burn

July
18

Last night provided some classic Burn Notice moments, not least of all the counselor who looked remarkably like Michael's mom. (C'mon, you laughed out loud when they first showed her, didn't you?)

As a matter of fact, let's start there, with Michael reallyreallyreallyreallyreally not looking forward to, basically, couples counseling with his mother.

They both got more [...]

And now, we interrupt this blog to bring you an important 24 news update

July
16

Kiefer "Jack Bauer" Sutherland and 24 showrunners Howard Gordon and Jon Cassar were trotted out before the press this week to talk about the upcoming season and the November prequel movie, and, it appears, had quite a bit to say.

Don't know where to turn? I've got your back. I read a zillion articles and I [...]

A 'Pretty Woman' for 24's Jack Bauer?

July
14

The latest rumor regarding 24:

Julia Roberts may guest-star sometime in Season 7, says starmagazine.com.

Those of you who are either my age or pop-culture aficionados will remember the scandal — SHOCKING! — when Julia left poor Kiefer at the altar back in 1991 and took up with his friend, Jason Patric (he of the missing "k").

What [...]

Burn Notice: Breaking and Entering

July
11

The first time I saw this episode, I was kind of disappointed. I'd been looking forward to the second season of Burn Notice, especially in this vast summer television wasteland.

When I got the screener disc a couple weeks ago, I watched the two episodes on it eagerly, happy to see my favorite spy, Michael Weston, [...]

The problem with Baby Borrowers

July
10

I have to admit, I haven't watched Baby Borrowers.

Many people I know have, and have lauded it.

But some of the initial issues I had with the show's concept are outlined in this statement sent to me today by Child Care Resources of Rockland, most specifically the fact that the babies involved are thrust in an [...]

Summer series, week 6

July
5

The sixth week of the summer season kicks off tomorrow, and we have a bit more going on this week than the last couple of weeks, now that Independence Day has passed.

Here's our advance looks at the first and second and third and fourth and fifth weeks.

The summer season continues rolling out new shows this [...]

Why does Tony Almeida want to bring down the U.S.?

July
2

More details are starting to come out about 24's Day 7, in which the big bad is none other than the previously thought dead (except by some) Tony "Soul Patch" Almeida.

Executive Producer Manny Coto gave an interview I read on newsobserver.com in which he says Jack starts out defending himself against accusations of crimes against [...]

DVDs for the Troops - Jericho fans do it again

July
1

Once again, Jericho fans are providing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with some entertainment to help pass the days.

They raised $5,380 to send 219 Season 2 DVD sets to military personnel overseas. In addition, they include recorded messages by writers and producers of Jericho. A sampling:
Co-Executive Producer Dan Shotz: "Jericho, at its core, is a [...]

A whole big freakin' pile of Jericho

June
30

I've been so far behind in my Jericho blogging that it's not even funny.

Fortunately, the Blackjack Fairgrounds blog carnival has been resurrected and is hosted by Jane at The Monster.

So I'll skip the articles that are in the carnival and just share other things I've come upon:

• Lost the link for this, but the upcoming [...]

In Plain Sight: Who Shot Jay Arnstein?

June
29

I've really been enjoying In Plain Sight so far, even though I haven't been blogging about it too much. It's really been getting me jazzed up for the premiere of Burn Notice, which isn't for another couple of weeks (July 10). I have the first two eps on a screener, but haven't had the chance [...]

24 is lost in time

June
27

There's been lots of weirdness lately relating to 24's Season 7 and I've been lax in blogging about it, so let's catch up, shall we?

First off: 24 is not going to be "22″ this season. I first hear about this rumor via this Newsday blog, and it's been debunked, first reported here on TVGuide.com. Did [...]

Kyle XY's return and a meditation on summer series

June
26

We've already told you the bad news that Kyle XY isn't returning until January.

Now we hear, via TVGuide.com's Matt Mitovich, that only 10 episodes have been ordered.

The order could be expanded to more episodes, but I wonder if it mightn't be better to leave it at 10. (And Mitovich says this, which jibes with what [...]
