Burn Notice: Breaking and Entering

July
11

The first time I saw this episode, I was kind of disappointed. I’d been looking forward to the second season of Burn Notice, especially in this vast summer television wasteland.

When I got the screener disc a couple weeks ago, I watched the two episodes on it eagerly, happy to see my favorite spy, Michael Weston, [...]

The problem with Baby Borrowers

July
10

I have to admit, I haven’t watched Baby Borrowers.

Many people I know have, and have lauded it.

But some of the initial issues I had with the show’s concept are outlined in this statement sent to me today by Child Care Resources of Rockland, most specifically the fact that the babies involved are thrust in an [...]

The sixth week of the summer season kicks off tomorrow, and we have a bit more going on this week than the last couple of weeks, now that Independence Day has passed.

Here’s our advance looks at the first and second and third and fourth and fifth weeks.

The summer season continues rolling out new shows this [...]

Why does Tony Almeida want to bring down the U.S.?

July
2

More details are starting to come out about 24’s Day 7, in which the big bad is none other than the previously thought dead (except by some) Tony “Soul Patch” Almeida.

Executive Producer Manny Coto gave an interview I read on newsobserver.com in which he says Jack starts out defending himself against accusations of crimes against [...]

DVDs for the Troops – Jericho fans do it again

July
1

Once again, Jericho fans are providing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with some entertainment to help pass the days.

They raised $5,380 to send 219 Season 2 DVD sets to military personnel overseas. In addition, they include recorded messages by writers and producers of Jericho. A sampling:
Co-Executive Producer Dan Shotz: “Jericho, at its core, is a [...]

A whole big freakin’ pile of Jericho

June
30

I’ve been so far behind in my Jericho blogging that it’s not even funny.

Fortunately, the Blackjack Fairgrounds blog carnival has been resurrected and is hosted by Jane at The Monster.

So I’ll skip the articles that are in the carnival and just share other things I’ve come upon:

• Lost the link for this, but the upcoming [...]

In Plain Sight: Who Shot Jay Arnstein?

June
29

I’ve really been enjoying In Plain Sight so far, even though I haven’t been blogging about it too much. It’s really been getting me jazzed up for the premiere of Burn Notice, which isn’t for another couple of weeks (July 10). I have the first two eps on a screener, but haven’t had the chance [...]

The fifth week of the summer season kicks off today, but there’s not too much going on this week, as Independence Day is Friday.

Here’s our advance looks at the first and second and third and fourth weeks.

24 is lost in time

June
27

There’s been lots of weirdness lately relating to 24’s Season 7 and I’ve been lax in blogging about it, so let’s catch up, shall we?

First off: 24 is not going to be “22” this season. I first hear about this rumor via this Newsday blog, and it’s been debunked, first reported here on TVGuide.com. Did [...]

For the first time ever, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is announcing the 10 finalists for the Best Comedy and Best Drama categories.

My personal choices for the top 5 in each are in bold. The top 10s are:

Top 10 Comedy Series Finalists

Kyle XY’s return and a meditation on summer series

June
26

We’ve already told you the bad news that Kyle XY isn’t returning until January.

Now we hear, via TVGuide.com’s Matt Mitovich, that only 10 episodes have been ordered.

The order could be expanded to more episodes, but I wonder if it mightn’t be better to leave it at 10. (And Mitovich says this, which jibes with what [...]

Jericho keeps making the news

June
23

I’ve never, ever seen a fanbase so hooked into the producers and actors and crew that put together a show.

Jericho truly is a special experience for the fans (myself included) and all those involved in producing the show.

Take the latest missive I received today from the Saving Jericho Again folks:
Jericho Executive Producers Jon Turteltaub (“National [...]

In Plain Sight: Trojan Horst

June
22

Tonight’s ep of In Plain Sight holds great promise for those who enjoy the slightly off-kilter humor of the witsec (Federal Witness Protection Program) series: Dave Foley is center stage.

Here’s the official show description:
Horst Vanderhoff (Dave Foley) is the go-between for a highly sought after hit woman known only as Lola. While trying to get [...]

The Blackjack Fairgrounds reopens in a new location

June
19

After I ended the Blackjack Fairgrounds Jericho blog carnival, Gwen over at JKI (Jericho Kansas Inc.) offered to take over ownership and I gladly accepted. So the Fairgrounds have reopened for business!

Here’s the note from Gwen about the carnival:

For those of you who have not heard of a Blog Carnival, it is a collection of [...]

So Say We All: The Battlestar Galactica Blog Carnival, vol. 10

June
17

I can’t believe it’s going to be another six months — at least — before we get to see the final half of the final season of one of the best shows ever to hit the small screen.

So, sadly, this is the final So Say We All blog carnival of 2008. Sigh. This half-season went [...]

Battlestar Galactica: Revelations

June
13

Holy frakkin’ frakkity frak frak.

Mind. Blown.

We have to wait another six months, minimum, for the rest of this story?

Who saw them reaching Earth now?

A nuclear wasteland.

All this has happened before and all this will happen again.

Obvious now: Cylons and humans, once, long ago, slaughtered each other in a nuclear confrontation on Earth.

Some Cylons, and some [...]

24 has a new Big Bad — John Voight

June
13

For the first time in 40 years, Jon Voight has signed up to star on a TV show, and it’s none other than 24, says The Hollywood Reporter.

He’ll be the villain in Day 7, and will be introduced in the prequel this fall.
On the Emmy-winning Fox drama, Voight will play Jack Bauer’s (Kiefer Sutherland) uber-nemesis [...]
