VIDEO: The penultimate Office?

November
14

Likely our second-to-last Office recap/look-a-head sees Chris and Bri shed a single tear for what looks to be a strike-shortened season.

What if Season 2 had been pre-empted before we glimpsed a loaded teapot or learned a little toaster oven 101? What if Season 3 never introduced us to Dwight, from the future? Or to personal qualities like Alpha-male, jackhammer?

Who knows what gems we’ll be deprived of? The next PamCasso, maybe? A cool glass of lemoñadé? The very thought is like a frozen sledgehammer to the griefbone. Where was I? Oh yeah, “Survivorman” and what’s next…

VIDEO: The Office goes to war (just like the writers)

November
5

Like an awkward confrontation with an old flame, Chris and Bri met in the conference room to talk about “Branch Wars.”

That’s right, the conference room, where it all happens.

We touch on the Writers Guild strike, give a few well-deserved shout-outs and reflect on The Finer Things. But we won’t shed a “Single Tear” for people who don’t know the basics of break room etiquette. After all, this isn’t “Toaster Oven 101.”

VIDEO: 30 Rock meets its idol

October
29

Like sunrise in Little Chechnya, our weekly take on 30 Rock is both inevitable and a little frightening.

No wait, bad analogy. Need therapy? Bring your boss, because you never know when he or she might summon the kind of Emmy-caliber performance that will lift you right out of your daddy issues. But be careful. Never follow a hippie to a second location. Just press play and enjoy a very special episode of Supercomputer—err, the Remote Access vodcast.

VIDEO: The Office vodcast — Chris and Bri sing!

October
29

There’s something ironic about an Office episode centered around the staff’s efforts to create a TV commercial for the branch, considering that my DVR has kept me from having to watch commercials during The Office for the last two years.

Nevertheless, Bri and Chris talk—and sing a little—about this week’s diminutive edition: “Local Ad”.

Keep scrolling down when it’s done because, in a separate clip, we also touch on the Invasion of Scranton, otherwise known as The Office Convention.

VIDEO: The Office vodcast

October
22

Let’s curl up with a good book, say Harry Potter, while our host’s creepy cousin rocks nervously alongside us. Schrute Farms, the gold standard of beet-centric agri-tourism, is open for business.

The accomodations are nice, though the handmade beds are a bit small. But you won’t find us blubbering in the stairwell or hopping a freight train out of town. And whoever/whomever is still complaining that 60 minutes is too long or that the receptionist and the salesman aren’t fun to watch, well you can just go and declare bankruptcy.

VIDEO: 30 Rock vodcast

October

Jenna’s role as Ms. Pac-Man in the live-action Atari movie is in doubt, Jack’s mommy issues are coming to the fore and Tracy and Angie are carrying the Kucinich banner.

It was a wacky week at 30 Rock, though perhaps not the funniest we’ve seen, in the estimation of your resident vloggers. Aww, who’re we kidding, “The Collection” was ghetto-fabulous!

VIDEO: The Office vodcast

October
15

NOTE: This entry originally was posted Oct. 15 on our temporary site.

Chris is on vacation and Brian is in his car, on assignment. But that doesn’t mean Remote Access isn’t going to bring you your weekly Office vodcast.

Things get stupid (again) when Michael takes a delivery boy hostage, but things are just right on the Jim-Pam front. And if you think the show’s too long, you are oh so wrong.

Now pop in your ABBA 8-track and hit play. It’s time for the “Launch Party”.

Video Blog: The Office – Dunder Mifflin Infinity

October
10

The Fire Guy is back, and so are Brian and Chris with our take on “Dunder Mifflin Infinity.”

No, not the glitch-laden NBC attempt at taking The Office interactive. We mean last week’s episode, which saw the outing of Jim and Pam, the sleaziness of Ryan Howard (the RM, not the 1B) and a brave new world of technology.

This is our second stab at this, so hopefully you won’t reach the conclusion Dwight did: “I think they both could do better.”

Video Blog: 30 Rock — SeinfeldVision

October

Chris and Brian are back to give their respective takes on “SeinfeldVision”, last week’s season premiere of 30 Rock.

Chris sings, Brian cringes and they both defame a comic legend. Agree? Disagree? Let us know what you think.

Video: A look back at The Office and look ahead to 30 Rock

October

It ain’t polished, and it ain’t pretty (well, maybe a little pretty), but it’s our first stab at video blogging.

Chris Serico and I, Brian Howard, give our respective takes on “Fun Run,” the season premiere of The Office, as well a look ahead to the 30 Rock premiere, “SeinfeldVision.” Hope you enjoy it!

Check out our fall TV preview: VIDEO

September
9

Sure, NBC has that hit show about people with superpowers, but writer-producer Greg Berlanti is the hero over at ABC.

dsmberlanti.jpg

My story on Greg is in today’s Journal News. It’s the centerpiece of our annual fall TV preview.

I blogged about Greg, a native of Rye, last week, so you might remember that he’s executive producing THREE shows on ABC this season.

He heads “Brothers & Sisters” for its second year, and he’s also launching “Dirty Sexy Money” (you gotta LOVE that title!) on Sept. 26.

And to top it off, Greg co-created “Eli Stone,” which debuts in the spring.

Click here to check out my previous post about Greg, where you can listen to some audio clips from my interview with him.

But NOW for the BIG announcement: Drum roll please!

Be sure to watch fellow blogger extraordinaire Amy Vernon and I, as we host the first of a series of specials about the upcoming TV season.

Rockland actress makes TV debut on ‘Damages’: Audio interview

August
20

If you’re hooked on the new Glenn Close legal thriller “Damages”—like I am—then you already know New City’s Maya Days.

She plays Detective Rosario Ortiz, one of the cops interrogating Ellen about her fiance’s murder.

tjndc5-5g39uby5sqc5svlqgir_layout.jpg

And while Days’ role isn’t huge, the police play a pivotal part in the show: They’re just like us viewers, trying to figure out the mystery behind the murder and the lawsuit handled by Close’s character, Patty Hewes.

Anyway, I got the chance to interview Days earlier this month at the Rockland home she shares with her three-year-old son, Boston, and her husband, Keith Flannery. (Check out my story in today’s Journal News.)

As I mention in the story, Days’ hubby is a big part in how she landed this plum role—her first ever on television. Until now, this Broadway performer spent most of her career onstage in shows like “Rent,” “Aida” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

You see, Keith is an NYPD detective, just like the one his wife plays on TV.

When Days was auditioning for “Damages,” he told her exactly how a real-life investigator would react to finding a body in a bathtub (which, as the show’s fans already know, is what the cops discovered in the first episode).

Here’s an audio clip of Days talking about her husband’s advice:

Download:

Speaking of acting tips, Days is thrilled to be on a show that stars Bedford’s Glenn Close, who’s been nominated five times for an Oscar and won three Tony awards and an Emmy.

d_ep_105_206.jpg

Yikes! So is it intimidating being, uh, so close to Close’s talent?

Days hasn’t had a scene with CLose yet, but she acknowledges her “big presence.”

Here, Days talks about the legendary actress:

Download:

So that’s what Days has been up to lately!

But here’s what she was up to in 1998, when she was lead vocalist for “Feel It,” a pop song by the Tamperer that went to No. 1 in the U.K. and was a huge club hit here in America.

Any of you club kids remember this tune? Check out Days in the video, which she says played “twice an hour” on MTV Europe at the time.

So look for Maya Days on “Damages” tomorrow night…and hopefully you’ll have gotten that chimney song of hers out of your head by then!
